Two out of every three Julys, Presbyterian Women in the Synod of Southern California and Hawaii holds a conference at Chapman University. This year, the dates are Friday, July 15, 2016 to Sunday, July 17. We are quite blessed this year to have The Reverend Dr. Judy Siker as one of the keynote speakers. Judy has written the Presbyterian Women’s Bible study for 2016-2017, which Covenant’s women will be studying: WHO IS JESUS? What a Difference a Lens Makes. It isn’t often that the writer of the study makes her way to this coast to introduce the study…but it only seemed right that Judy would say YES to the invitation…and we are excited. The second keynote speaker is the Reverend Eugenia Gamble who always has a challenge for us delivered in a most delightful way. Shari Stump is the conference director of music, laughter, and fun…at a conference loaded with workshops, forums, shopping, resources, fun, and fellowship. Take a look at the conference registration form to see just how much there is to choose from…and we hope to see you there!
Beginning in the fall, Covenant’s PW will begin a study, written by Judy Siker, entitled “Who Is Jesus? What a Difference a Lens Makes”. According to the introduction to the study, Judy invites us to join her on a “journey to expand our understanding of who Jesus was and is-a journey of our hearts and our minds, a journey that we will take together. (I) invite you to be good conversation partners along the way, sharing with one another how you see and experience the various lenses and how these difference perspectives impact your understanding of who Jesus is.”
Presbyterian Women meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 9:30 AM and will be immersed in the study from September to June. Horizons Bible study is written so that lay people can lead the study and includes helps for the leaders at the end of each lesson, as well as additional helps in the Horizons magazine. Come join in as we all learn more about Jesus.
